There's no Snake Plissken in this story, but there are plenty of redcoats, bluecoats, militiamen, civilians, and non-stop Rev War Action!
This story ends with half of Manhattan burning to the ground. It begins with the Continental Army's frantic attempts to halt a methodical, relentless British advance on the city. New York has the finest harbor in the hemisphere and the British need it for their effort to re-take their rebellious, separatist American Colonies. Join Dutchess County Historian Will Tatum for a blow-by-blow retelling of the defense and loss of NYC, resulting in the great fire of 1776. Pick up the story of the Dutchess County Minutemen that begins with our Old Drovers Inn program on August 5th. If you are a fan of Kurt Russell and John Carpenter, you'll see that this real-life story has all of the makings of an action movie plot.

The Dutchess County Historic Tavern Trail brings history and local cuisine together, while introducing the community to iconic locales. The Tavern Trail is a collaborative endeavor between the Dutchess County Department of History, local historical societies, and signature food and beverage industry partners to create an innovative program that highlights the county’s rich history. Each installment of the program is held at a different historic location and includes a brief presentation on an engaging episode of the local past.
