Rev250 at Historic Red Hook

Celebrating 250+ Years of Revolution, Change, and Civic Engagement

2025 marks the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution—a moment that reshaped the political, social, and cultural landscape of our country. Across the nation and here at home in Dutchess County, commemorative programs are inviting us not just to reflect on the past, but to ask: What does it mean to be an engaged citizen today?

At Historic Red Hook, we’re excited to join in these efforts with programs that explore Revolutionary history from the ground up—through the lives of everyday people, the evolution of civic spaces like the Elmendorph Inn, and the ongoing work of building community.

Historic Red Hook has been awarded $10,500 from the Dutchess County REV250 Programming Grant! This funding supports two exciting initiatives designed to honor the past and spark civic conversations for the future:

Community Pamphlet Project

We are designing an educational pamphlet that traces 250+ years of civic engagement in Red Hook, styled after 18th-century pamphlets, and mailing it to households across the town.

This project is meant to:
✅ Spark local conversations
✅ Connect residents to Red Hook’s civic past
✅ Inspire participation in shaping its future
