Preserve Our Historic Campus – Guide the Care of the Elmendorph Inn & Green

Support the care and upkeep of our historic sites. Your attention to detail helps protect the spaces where our community gathers.

What You'll Do
The Facilities Committee meets three to four times a year to monitor, maintain, and coordinate repairs and improvements for Historic Red Hook’s properties, including:

✅ Elmendorph Inn – Overseeing repairs, restorations, and necessary upgrades
✅ Story Studio Property– Managing upkeep, painting, and essential installations
✅ Carriage Barn – Coordinating maintenance and lease agreements
✅ Elmendorph Green – Enhancing outdoor spaces with seating, lighting, and landscaping

What We've Accomplished
🔨 Repaired and replaced key structures at Elmendorph Inn, including a new cellar door, kitchen range, and fireplace hearth
🎨 Painted and updated the Story Studio and second-floor apartment, plus installed a new AC/heating unit
🏡 Maintained and improved the Carriage Barn, including exterior painting and roof maintenance
🌳 Enhanced Elmendorph Green with new benches, lighting, and a pollinator garden

What We're Working on Now
We’re currently focused on installing a water sensor system in the Story Studio apartment, replacing floorboards in the Inn, and adding a new walkway light for improved accessibility.

Time Commitment
🕒 Meetings 3–4 times per year + hands-on projects as needed. Flexible involvement—help as you can!

Who Should Join?
✔️ Anyone with an interest in historic preservation, handy skills, or a willingness to help with maintenance and improvements
✔️ No experience required—just a desire to pitch in and keep our historic spaces in great shape!
