Luncheon in Honor of Elliott Lindsley
Please join us to celebrate Rev. James Elliott Lindsley, a man who will always be important to Historic Red Hook – and to the wider Red Hook community whom he has served so selflessly for so long. We are privileged to host a special luncheon in his honor on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00 pm at the Elmendorph Inn.
Space is limited so reserve your place soon by filling out the form below. Final RSVP date is Friday, September 20. Tickets are $40 per person online or by check, made out to Historic Red Hook, and mailed to Claudine Klose, Historic Red Hook, P.O. Box 397, Red Hook, NY 12571, or at the door. Your support will help Historic Red Hook continue to preserve Red Hook’s oldest public building.
A Bard graduate who caught the “river disease” early, Elliott Lindsley served as rector of St. Paul’s Church in Tivoli from 1969-1992. Always interested in local history, he was part of a group in the late 1970s fighting to save the mid-18th century Elmendorph Inn from being sold off or demolished by the adjacent Grand Union supermarket. Thanks to Elliott Lindsley’s intervention with the Grand Union president, the ‘Friends of Elmendorph’ was able to purchase the landmark building for $30,000 instead. Join us for this intimate gathering with Elliott Lindsley and his wife, Barbara, to hear the remarkable story of how the Elmendorph Inn was saved.
