St. Paul’s Lutheran cemetery, Red Hook. A curved top marble tablet very close to the right of his wife’s of the same style, marked with Revolutionary War stick marker, toward the front, one row from fellow veteran, Andrew Drom.

Peter Benner (or Petrus Bender) was the brother of John F. Benner (also a Revolutionary War veteran buried in this cemetery). Their parents were Johannes Benner & Magdalena Streit and they had at least 9 siblings. Peter was baptized on December 11th, 1763 at the Dutch Reformed Church in Red Hook.
Like many families this far back in the town’s history, his relations bear surnames found intermingled with many other founding families and those that rest in this cemetery. He married Jane (or Jannecken) Waldorf and had many children including Maria born 1789 who married George Pultz, William born the same year who married Elizabeth Feller, Helen (or Lenah) born 1792 who married Frederick Hevenor, Elizabeth born 1796 who married Peter Hevenor, Anna born 1800 who married Philip Fraleigh, and Catherine who appears to have never married but whose name appears in probate records regarding her father’s will.
Peter died in 1842 and his wife Jane followed in 1864 and they rest beside each other here.
